Slipknot Bassist Paul Gray's Death ruled accidental Overdose

According to DesMoinesRegister.com, SLIPKNOT bass player Paul Gray died of an accidental overdose of morphine and fentanyl, a medical examiner has ruled.

Gray's body was discovered about 10:50 a.m. May 24 by a maintenance worker at TownePlace Suites in Urbandale, Iowa.

A hypodermic needle lay near the bed, and "all kinds of pills" surrounded Gray, who was hunched over in the corner of the room, according to a 911 call.

Polk County Medical Examiner Dr. Gregory Schmunk said today that it was two injected drugs — fentanyl is a synthetic form of morphine — that killed Gray. The pills did not contribute to his death, Schmunk said.

Gray also suffered from significant heart disease, Schmunk said.

Schmunk completed a death certificate on Friday afternoon.

Private funeral services for Gray were held on May 28 in Des Moines, Iowa.

I am really sad to hear about the untimely demise of Paul Gray. I think he was the backbone of Slipknot. It is disheartening to note that almost all the leading musicians are addicted to something or the other. I just cannot make out why they are destroying themselves like this. God has given them enormous talents. They should use their talents properly. I read somewhere that Paul’s wife was pregnant at the time of his death. I really feel sorry for her. I hope that his death will certainly make the younger generation think twice before taking drugs. Regards John mtv music awards 2010
